I'm generally pretty open about car mods - to each his/her own.

My father has a '69 427 that he's owned since it was new. I grew up with that car. It's one of the things that made me a car guy.

Makes for handy storage afterward, too, though you have to settle for either being an effective eunuch or excreting testosterone from your eyes. That tends to up glaucoma risk, though since you'd have the originals as spares, it's like swapping on a cold air intake and you just keep what you removed. If you want to sell your body, you're usually best off reinstalling the stock parts as needed unless someone will pay full price for mods.
